Eugene J. "Gene" Bender

Eugene J. Bender, of Florrisant, Missouri, formerly of Herrin, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Gene was the beloved husband of Jacquelyn R. (White) Bender and dear father of Janet (Matthew) Brooks & the late Joseph Eugene Bender, grandfather of Megan Trower, Nathan Brooks & Zack Teel, great grandfather of Jenna, Mackenzie Trower & Tala Teel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or Missouri Veterans Home. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating.  Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.   Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with graveside services.
