A. Vernett Coleman

Herrin- A. VERNETT COLEMAN, age 88, of Lake of Egypt, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 6:30am on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at her daughters home at the Lake of Egypt. Vernett was born in Chicago, IL on February 14, 1919, the daughter of George and Agnes (Gostafson) Peterson.She married Clifford Coleman in Chicago on April 20, 1940. He preceded her in death on October 31, 1969. Mrs. Coleman worked at Big Daddys Restaurant in Herrin. Survivors include one son- Clifford L. Coleman, MD FACS and his wife Sharon of Carbondale; one daughter- Lynne Heal and her husband David of Lake of Egypt; seven grandchildren- John & Deanna Heal, Matthew & Kim Heal; Michelle & Dave Baker, Clifford & Emily Coleman, Martha Coleman, David Coleman, and Thomas Coleman; three great grandchildren-Augie Heal, Lauren Coleman, and Nicholas Coleman; one brother- Richard Peterson of Herrin; one sister- Dorothy Nelson of Chicago. Vernett was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clifford. Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday, June 11, 2007 at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort with Rev. Michael Neubert officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is serving the family.
