Creal Springs- Abby M. Ab Hatfield, 47, of Creal Springs, formerly of New Liberty, IA, passed away at 9:15 PM, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. Abby was born on December 4, 1962 in Davenport, IA to Ellis Ivan & Della (Deverwaere) Ahrens. She married Doyal Hatfield on October 19, 1991 in Peoria. He survives of Creal Springs. She graduated from Bennett High School and received her Bachelor of Art Degree in marketing and management from St. Ambrose University in Davenport. Abby has worked for Lee Enterprises since her high school graduation, most recently as Operations Director/Advertising Director for the Southern Illinoisan newspaper in Carbondale, IL. She was passionate about her job and the team of people she was associated with and together they were awarded the 2004 Enterprise of the Year. In her spare time she enjoyed day trips with her husband to the Shawnee National Forest to ride horses. She also enjoyed showing her Tennessee Walking Horses and received many awards as a result. She attended Spillertown Baptist Church and liked listening to gospel music. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors: Husband- Doyal Hatfield of Creal Springs Son- Nathan Hatfield of Marengo, IA Grandchild- Logan James Hatfield of Marengo, IA Sister- Ann Williams and husband Will of Kansas City, KS Sister- Jane Jones and husband Larry of Humestown, IA Sister- Jill Reedy and husband Michael of Eldridge, IA Brother- Ellis Ahrens and wife Kathy of Davenport Brother- Michael Ahrens and wife Janet of Roanoke, IL Brother- Patrick Ahrens and wife Laura of Wheatland, IA Brother- Ed Ahrens and wife Debi of Dixon, IA Brother- Grover Ahrens and wife Sue of Bluegrass, IA Brother- Art Ahrens and wife Denise of New Liberty, IA Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews Aunt- Patty Star of Moline Uncle- Gene Ahrens of Moline She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will also be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, IA. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, IA. Rev. Jim Brown, Pastor of Mt. Zion Community Church in E. Moline, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Patricks Cemetery in Big Rock, IA. Memorial donations are suggested to the Southern Illinois Food Bank and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St./ Marion, IL 62959.
