Alberta Dawson

Marion Alberta I. Dawson, 94, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:35 A.M. at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Alberta was born August 6, 1917 in Williamson County the daughter of Richard and Katherine (Waldron) James. She married Harry Dawson on December 15, 1934 in Wickliffe, Kentucky and together they shared over 59 years of marriage until his death on February 1, 1993. She was a homemaker and member of the Marion 3rd Baptist Church for over 60 years. Survivors include; Son Richard L. Dawson of Marion and special friend Ruth Petrowske Daughter Kathleen Stephenson and husband Dr. Ben of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Six grandchildren; James Richard Dawson of St. Peter, Missouri Susan Renee Sanders of West Frankfort Kevin Lee Dawson of Galatia Ashley Lloyd of Eldorado Dennis Dale Turner of Memphis, Tennessee James David Turner of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Thirteen Great Grandchildren Brother Calvin James of Marion Preceded by her Parents, Husband Harry Dawson, Two sisters, Two Brothers. Funeral services will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at Noon at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Kellum officiating. Burial will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 9 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Marion 3rd Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
