Herrin- Alene Kuehner, 89, of Herrin, passed away at 4:55 PM, Friday, July 15, 2005 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Alene was born on November 6, 1915 in Worley, KY to Oscar & Nora (Adkins) Ross. She married Cecil Paul Fletcher on March 15, 1932. She later married Orville Kuehner on May 29, 1940 in Herrin. He survives of Herrin.
Mrs. Kuehner worked at the Young Modern Shop in Herrin until her retirement.
She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herrin. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, and collecting antiques. She enjoyed watching Herrin High School girls softball and boys basketball. She loved music, singing and dancing. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and employees of Shawnee Christian Nursing Center for their kindness and care over the last two years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Forrest Ross, and sister; Irene Stender.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 18, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Herrin. Pastor Michael Henson will officiate. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Herrin. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service, Monday at the church. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
