Alene M. Phillips

Herrin- ALENE M. PHILLIPS, age 90, of Story City, Iowa, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 6:45pm on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City, Iowa. Alene was born in Johnston City on September 2, 1918, the daughter of Roy and Grace (Peterson) Jennings. She married Harold J. Phillips in Herrin on July 7, 1948. They shared thirty years of marriage, until his death on December 20, 1978. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the First Christian Church in Herrin. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law- Greg and Caroline Phillips of Ames, Iowa; and one sister- Betty Ansinelli of Herrin, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters- Thelma Jennings and Chestina Mandrell. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 31, 2009 at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. William McCluskey officiating. Friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.
