Marion- Alice Almaroad, 89, of Marion passed away at 2:30PM, Sunday, April 13, 2003 at home.
Alice was born on July 9, 1913 in Massac County to Henry & Sarah (Smith) Meyer. She married Ray Bryon Almaroad on October 23, 1930 in Massac County. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1972.
Mrs. Almaroad retired from the Sherman Department Store, located on the square in Marion. She was a member of Fountain Methodist Church in Marion and sang alto in the church choir. She was also a member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union, the Mother of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #2457, and a lifetime member of Marion VFW Post #1301.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters; Sharon Williams and Lucille Manley, sisters; Bertha Black, Florence Jones, & Lucy Cockrell, and three brothers; William Wood, Joe & Bub Meyer.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Rev. Cecil Clendenin & Rev. Frankie Pierce will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5-9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the funeral home.
