Alice Marie Cavins

Alice Marie Cavins, age 58, of Herrin,  passed away Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. 

Alice was born September 03, 1963 in Du Quoin, Illinois, a daughter of Julian and Vera (Pedigo) Knight. She married Mark Wenzel Cavins on August 08, 2020 in Herrin.  Alice enjoyed her job as a noon aide at Northside Primary Center but more than anything, she loved being a mother. Raising her family, was the most important job in the world to her. 

She is survived by her spouse Mark Wenzel Cavins of Herrin, IL; eight children, Leslie Kell, Danielle (Jake) Church, Aaron (Jacy Walker) Howell, Hannah Howell, Charity Howell, Margie (Woody) Lyell, Amanda (Aaron) Crain, and Joseph Cavins; three brothers, Russell Knight, Tom (Melissa) Knight, and Gerald (Doris) Knight; and thirteen precious grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gary Knight.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 17th, 2022 from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM at West Monroe Apostolic Church in Herrin. A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022, 7:00 PM at West Monroe Apostolic Church with Rev. Terry Griffith and Brother Jordan Griffith officiating. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 18, 2022 at  North Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.

Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or West Monroe Apostolic Church.
