Alice L. Edwards

Alice L. (Newton) Edwards, age 87, died Wednesday, March 14th at 12:52 A.M. at the Friendship Care Center in Marion. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery, Marion. Visitation was from 5-9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Edwards was born February 16, 1914, in Trigg County, Kentucky, to Oscar C. and Fannie (Robinson) Newton. She married Earl Edwards in Marion. He died on January 2, 1977. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Bill Newton, one grandson, Bobby L. Stewart, Jr., and two infant great-grandchildren. Survivors include the following: Two daughters and sons-in-law: Marlene (Galyoan) & Elden Casey of Johnston City Elizabeth (Galyoan) & Bob Stewart of Marion Seven grandchildren: Terri & Mark Head of Johnston City Jerry & Cindy Casey of Johnston City Gary & Karen Casey of Paulton Sherrie & Bill Vanek of Johnston City Perry Casey of Johnston City Georgia Ann Allen of Romeoville, IL Michael E. Henderson of Romeoville, IL Nine great-grandchildren Four great-great-grandchildren Mrs. Edwards attended Second Baptist Church in Marion.
