Allen Burlie Springer, 70, went to heaven on Thursday, January 3, 2002. He was a patient at St. John's Hospital in Springfield during the month of December.
Funeral services will be held at Second Baptist Church in Marion Monday, January 7, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Bob Wagner will officiate with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Military Rites being performed at the grave by Marion VFW Post 1301 of Marion. Memorial contributions may be made to International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born January 8, 1931 in Caldwell, MO to John and Maude (Deniston) Springer. They preceded him in death. He married Marilyn (Nicholson) Springer in Marion on April 1, 1952. She survives in Marion. Together they would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. He was a graduate of Marion High School, served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corps., earned an associates degree from John A. Logan College, and was an active member of the Second Baptist Church. Allen was retired from General Telephone/Verizon in 1994 and a member of the Pioneers Club.

Preceded are Brother John Jewel Springer, Two Sisters Eunice Jordan and Agnes Wilkins, Sister in-law Wanda (Nicholson) Thompson, mother-in-law Jewell(Nicholson) Griffis, Grandmother Lora Jane Beers.
