Alma L. Smith

Alma L. Smith, 71, passed away at her home in Marion. Alma was born September 28, 1936, the daughter of William C. & Pearl (Needham) Murphy in Williamson County. She married Thomas Smith on August 14, 1972 in Jonesboro, Arkansas and he preceded her in death in 1985. Alma was a homemaker, and of the protestant faith. She was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include: Five Sons; Tommy Longmire of Streetor, IL Robert Longmire of Streetor, IL Jimmy Longmire of Herrin Richard Longmire of Georgia Tommy Smith, Jr. of Herrin Nine Grandchildren Two Sisters; Fredia Campbell of Marion Shirley Lamphere of Marion Several Nieces and Nephews Preceded by Parents, Husband, Thomas, Two Brothers Billy Joe Murphy and William Murphy. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Leslie Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the First Apostolic Church of Marion.
