Herrin- Alma Willis, 91, of Herrin, passed away at 7:15 AM, Friday, January 23, 2004 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Alma was born on March 4, 1912 in Doe Run, MO to Frederick & Sarrah (Hulsey) Yates. She married Walter Harry Willis on December 26, 1929 in Granite City, IL. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1989.
Mrs. Willis was a cook at Sunnyside School and formerly for Bob Brewer at the Family Fun Restaurant in Herrin. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Herrin. Alma enjoyed cooking and her family was especially fond of her Chicken & Dumplings and strawberry pies. She was a caregiver and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Eugene Willis, one stillborn son, one brother, and two sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Brad Harlow will officiate. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Rileyville. Visitation will be from 11AM until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
