Almeda K. Sanders

Herrin- Almeda K. Sanders, 96, of Herrin, passed away at 12:22 PM, Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Almeda was born on September 14, 1915 in Herrin to Marion and Stella (Cox) Kirk. She married Fred T. Sanders, Jr. on January 8, 1956 in Herrin. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Herrin and was a retired nurse who worked in Mt. Vernon, Vienna and Herrin. Survivors include- Brother- Paul Meredith Kirk of Columbus, IN Several nieces and nephews The family extends special gratitude to her nephew and primary caregiver- Dennis and Yvonne Kirk of Johnston City She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother- Woodrow Kirk and sisters- Ellade Satterfield, Irene Childers and Jewell Marie Kirk. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Andy Lee and Pastor Mark Hutson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Herrin First Baptist Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
