Herrin Altie Lee Al Lannom, 82, of Herrin formerly of Marion departed this life at 6 A.M. on January 27, 2010 at home with his wife and daughter Sharon by his side. Al was born December 26, 1927 in Johnston City the son of Oscar and Nancy (Chunn) Lannom. He married Betty Nell Durham on January 14, 1947 and she preceded him in death. He married Juanita (Sellars) Lannom on December 22, 1996. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy as Seaman (SN) 1st Class. He was with the Operating Engineers in California and retired from the Williamson County Highway Department. Al loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting and swimming. He also enjoyed playing cards on the computer. In addition to his wife he is survived by; Daughter Sharon Lannom Dobroski and husband Michiel, Sr. of Marion Son William R. Lannom and wife Ruby of Marion Daughter Nancy Conner and friend Kevin of Potosi, WI Seven Grandchildren; Michiel Dobroski and wife Dawn of Royalton Altie Thomas Dobroski of Marion Teresa A. Walter and husband Thomas of Germany Altie Lee Lannom and wife Marissa of Herrin Billy Lannom of Johnston City Chris Lannom and wife Tara of Crab Orchard Ashleigh Nicole Holland of Murphysboro Twelve Great Grandchildren Sister Lucille Ray of Johnston City He was preced in death by his Parents, his first wife Betty Lannom, daughter Ladonna Jean, two sisters and five brothers. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1 P.M. at Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147, and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL 62959.
