Angela Mae Smith

Herrin- ANGELA MAE SMITH, age 62, of Herrin, passed away at 12:30am on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at her home in Herrin. Angela was born on August 8, 1948 in Herrin to Angelo & Hester (Brandon) Salvo. She married John Smith on January 18, 1973 in Knoxville, TN. He survives in Herrin. She was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family and loved ones. She was a member of Covenant Christian Fellowship in Carterville. In her spare time, Angela enjoyed baking pumpkin pies and cooking for her family, gardening her beautiful flowers and camping and fishing with her friends and family at Crab Orchard Lake. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include- Husband- John Smith of Herrin Daughter- Nicole Gusentine & husband Karl of Energy Daughter- Amy Flowers and husband Stephen of Riverton, IL Grandchildren- Karli, Brittney & William Gusentine of Energy Grandchild- Mason Flowers of Riverton, IL Niece- Brandy Russell of Herrin Several nieces and nephews Mother in law- Bettie Smith of Herrin Sister in law- Barrie Penniger of Herrin Beloved dog- Ebony She was preceded in death by her parents and sister- Vicki Salvo. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Monday, February 28, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
