Marion- Delores “Ann” Chamness, 85, of Marion, passed away at 10:48 AM, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her home in Marion.
Ann was born on August 16, 1933 in Marion to John L. and Kathleen (Dungey) Rader. She married Bill Whiting in 1951 in Williamson County and he preceded her in death in 1980. She married Sam Chamness on July 19, 1993 at the Franklin County Courthouse in Benton, IL. He only preceded her in death on August 13, 2018.
She worked as a pharmacy tech for Parks Pharmacy and Campbell’s Pharmacy in Marion for more than twenty years. She was a Baptist and attended church whenever she could. Ann was civically active and volunteered her time with the Marion VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, baking desserts and driving all over God’s beautiful countryside looking at the changing colors and falling leaves with her beloved husband. She liked the thrill of watching PBR pro bull riding and the peacefulness of a quiet drive to watch deer and spot birds in the refuge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and brothers- Bob and Charles Rader and sisters- Louella Moore and Donna Henke.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Pastor Barbara Vaughn will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.
