Carolyn Annette “Ann” Jennings, age 83, of Herrin, passed away at 4:04am on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Herrin Hospital.
Carolyn was born in Marion on December 20, 1932, the daughter of Theodore and Jeanetta (Sutton) South. She married Everett Jackson Jennings on August 5, 1950 in Energy. They shared fifty years of marriage, until his passing on October 20, 2006.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Herrin First Church of God. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Sohn’s and Dillards, later doing alterations from her own shop, Ann’s Alterations. For forty five years, Ann proudly hosted Christmas Eve Open Houses for her family, neighbors, and close friends sharing an abundance of food and love. Ann enjoyed bowling, sewing, and cooking. She was a prayer warrior, leading devotions at nursing homes in Marion.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents- Theodore and Jeanetta (Sutton) South, loving husband- Everett Jackson Jennings, her daughter- Kimberly Ann Jennings, sister- Ida South, and her brother and sister-in-law- Lawrence and Gladys South.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Herrin First Church of God. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Herrin First Church of God. Funeral arrangements have been provided by Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
