Arlie T. Sinks

Marion- Arlie T. Sinks, 92, of Marion, passed away at 5:25 PM, Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Arlie was born on July 27, 1916 in Pittsburg to Arlie & Viola (Moake) Sinks. He married Eva E. Avery in Yuma, AZ on January 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on September 8, 2002. Arlie was a veteran of WWII and served in the US Navy and next in Government Service until his retirement. While serving in the Navy during WWII, Arlie was captured and served two years and six months as a Prisoner of War. He was a protestant and a member of the Marion VFW Post #1301. Survivors include- Six nieces & nephews Many great nieces & great nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brothers and sisters- Jewell Sweet, Thetis Sutherland & Bill Sinks. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Bob Nolen will officiate. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Marion VFW & American Legion Posts. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
