Arthur Z. Childers

Herrin-Arthur Z. Childers, 89, died 8:15 A.M., Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at Herrin Hospital. Arthur was born November 30, 1913 in Colenar, Alabama to Oliver & Mary Jane (Reach) Childers. He married Demetria G. Satterfield on August 8, 1936 in Herrin. She preceded him in death on December 27, 1982. Arthur was retired from Allen Industries in Herrin. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors Include: Son & Daughter In Law: William & Cherry Childers of Herrin Daughter & Son In Law: Nevelyn & Norman Jones of Bloomington, IL. Daughter & Son In Law: Cheryal Gosnell & husband Cliff of Herrin Grandchildren: Jenny Shadowens & husband Rob of Herrin Derek Hall of Herrin Jeff Hall & wife Misty of West Frankfort Kelley McCauley & husband Mark of Springfield, IL. Deanna Ford & husband Mark of Normal, IL. Debra Scott & husband Ken of Chicago, IL. David Jones & wife Donna of Bloomington, IL. Several great grandchildren Brother: Earl Childers of Herrin Also survived by several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Tammy Childers, brothers, Edward, Aaron & Herman Childers, sisters, Lavada Powell, Clara Watson & Lillie Holloway. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2003 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
