Aurelia A. Broeking, age 98, of Marion, died at 7:45 P.M. on Monday, May 21st, 2001, at her home.
Visitation for Mrs. Broeking was on Friday, May 25th. The funeral service was at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 26th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Gordon Lambert and John Kaeser officiated.
Mrs. Broeking was born November 3, 1902, in Williamson County to John P. & Anna (Hauswirth) Fry. Both parents preceded her in death. She married L.E. (Louis) Broeking on November 3, 1921 in Marion. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1983.
She was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member (80+ years) of Zion United Church of Christ, a member of the Martha Circle at the church, the Williamson County Farm Bureau and AARP. Memorials may be given to the Zion United Church of Christ or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
She is survived by three sons, Donald (& Luetta) Broeking and Robert D. (& Kay) Broeking, of Marion, and Kenneth W. (& Carol) Broeking of Oreana; and one daughter, Helen E. (& Wilbert) Soldner of Marion. She is also survived by nine grandsons, Lance (& Sherri) Broeking of Lexington, Kentucky; Brent (& Jenny) Broeking of Perryville, Missouri, George (& Cathy) Soldner of Marion, John (& Robyn) Soldner of Oakton, Virginia, James Whitehead of Murrels Inlet, South Carolina, John W. (& Diane) Whitehead of Mound, Minnesota, Ronald (& Karen) Broeking, Timothy (& Darla) Broeking, Darrel (& Angie) Broeking, all of Marion; four granddaughters, Linda (& Fred) Fietsam and Kelly Atchison of Marion, Becky (& Mike) Kasten of Champaign, Donna (& Keith) Bain of Burke, Virginia.
In addition, Mrs. Broeking is survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren, Katie, John, Connor & Colton Whitehead, Kara & Diana Bain, John, Jeff & James Fietsam, Matt, Andrew, Colin, Christine, and Taylor Soldner, Graham, Jackson, Shelbi & Levi Broeking, Derek, Ryan & Conner Atchison, Isaac, Gussie & Sadie Kasten, and one step-great-granddaughter, Lauren Rutland.
She was preceded in death by one son, Louis E. Broeking, Jr., one daughter and son-in-law, John & Dorothy Whitehead, five sisters, Nora Wilkins, Cora Parks, Ella & Ida Angel, Ruby Boner, four brothers, two infants and Charles & E.A. Fry.
