Awanda L. Palmer

HERRIN- Awanda L. Palmer, age 72, of Herrin, passed away at her daughters residence in Herrin at 4:30am on Friday March 3, 2006. Awanda was born March 1, 1934 in Makanda, IL to Floyd A. and Lucy (Curry) Jones. She married Carlton Palmer in Marion on October 5, 1950. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1990. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Hafer Baptist Church. She was a seamstress at Smolers. Survivors include- Son and Daughter-In-Law- Brad and Linda Palmer- Carterville, IL Daughter- Lynola Hovenga- Herrin, IL 1 Grandson- Christopher Hovenga- Herrin, IL 3 Granddaughters and their spouses- Tracy and David Galloway- Herrin, IL Ashley and Rick Mize- Marion, IL Lesley and Jared Pender- Cambria, IL 3 great grandchildren- Brittany Galloway- Herrin, IL Teresa Pender- Cambria, IL Julian Mize- Marion, IL 3 sisters- Thelma and Ray Snyder- DeSoto, IL Verta Jackson- TN Donna and Howard Howell- Carterville, IL Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Carlton, a grand daughter- Natalie Pender, and a son-in-law- John Hovenga. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday March 6, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Sunday March 5, 2006 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
