Barbara Ann Nickens

Freeman Spur- BARBARA ANN (MURRAY) NICKENS, age 62, of Freeman Spur, passed away at 3:00am on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Helia Healthcare of Energy. Barbara was born in Herrin on November 25, 1948, the daughter of Frellen Eugene and Lizzie (Cheatham) Murray. She married Donald Nickens on April 4, 1975 in Marion. Together, they shared thirty-five years of marriage. Don survives in Freeman Spur. Barbara was an avid Pittsburg Steelers and St Louis Cardinals fan. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything. Survivors include her husband- Donald Nickens of Freeman Spur, IL Daughter- Connie and John Maxey of Herrin, IL Son- Mark Hall of West Virginia Three grandchildren- Brittany Maxey and fianc Derek Raynor of Herrin, IL Dustin Maxey of Herrin, Il Jaylen Nickens of Herrin, IL Sister- Linda and Dennis Fleming of Marion, IL Two brothers- Darrel and Brenda Murray of Herrin, IL Frellen Budgy and Louise Murray of Herrin, IL Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, her son- Don Michael Nickens, granddaughter- Jayme Maxey, and her brother- Richard Murray. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.
