Our mom loved life and fun and was involved in many activities both in her church, Marion Second Baptist, and throughout the community. As part of the Bus Ministry years ago, she led the singing and could sustain the song The Wheels on the Bus indefinitely. Mom was part of the Kazoo band and the Golden Agers Kitchen Band earning the nickname Bubbles. Mom taught Sunday School for many years with classes in kindergarten and Adult 1.
A nurse by profession, Mom worked for many years at the old Marion Memorial Hospital and as the Director of Nurses at Fountains Nursing Home. She volunteered at the VA Hospital helping to care for others. She was a volunteer with the Reach to Recovery program for breast cancer survivors.
Mom loved her grandchildren and made sure all of them knew how to blow a raspberry saying, This is important. She was a long-time Cubs fan who tried but did not always succeed in convincing her grandkids the Cubs were the greatest.
We love our Mother and each of us knew we were her favorite. All of us knew she was MY MOTHER THE SAINT.
