Barbara Jean Crabtree

Herrin- BARBARA JEAN CRABTREE, age 73, of Herrin, passed away at 5:50pm on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Herrin Nursing and Rehab Center. Barbara was born in Carterville on May 16, 1938, the daughter of Audy and Marie (Gillody) Volner. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Herrin. Mrs. Crabtree was retired from Kerr-McGee, where she worked as a coal miner. Survivors include two daughters- Jamie and Kyle Carson of Herrin Penny and Mark McCurdy of Royalton Five grandchildren- Ryan Koons, Candice Burton, Tony Carson, Lauren McCurdy, and Kaylee McCurdy Two sisters- Mary Kay Volner of Murphysboro Peggy Maynor of Murphysboro Two nieces- Kim Volner of Marion Stephanie Volner of Murphysboro Beloved dog- Angel She was preceded in death by her parents, her son- Dewey Crabtree, and one sister- Shirley Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 19, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Pastor Michael Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Thursday, November 18, 2011 at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
