Barbara Jean (Howerton) Sullins, known affectionately as Bobbie, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, in La Mesa, California, at the age of 91. Born September 16, 1932, in Marion, Illinois, she was a cherished daughter of Bill and Fern Howerton.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Sullins, her parents, sister, Nancy Henley, and brother, Harry Dean Howerton. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her daughter, Linda Goodale (husband Bob) of Bedford, NH; her son, James "Jim" Sullins II (wife Laurie) of San Diego; her sister, Rainie Goss (husband John) of Marion; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bobbie had a profound love for her family and relished her role as Nana and Great-Nana. Her joy was found in the simple pleasures of playing cards and Bingo with her friends at Grossmont Gardens where she was a beloved member of the community.
A dedicated citizen to her community, she once served in the Grand Jury of San Diego County.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at the Goddard Chapel, located within the Rose Hill Cemetery (1301 N Court Street; Marion, IL 62959).
Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family.
