Ben Bruce

Ben Bruce, 75, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 4:00 A.M. at his home in Marion. Ben was born April 20, 1934 the son of Frank & Ferne (Loye) Bruce in Marion. He married Lois Jane Wilson on June 18, 1955 in Vienna and together they have shared over 54 years of marriage. From 1954 1978 Ben was an employee and owner of Bruce Electric, and from 1980 1995 TVW Menswear. He was a member of Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #702, Marion Rotary Club, Franklin County Country Club. Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. #800 and from 1968 2004 he served as a Director for the Bank of Marion. In addition to his wife Lois Jane, he is survived by: Daughter Laura Ann Rushing, her husband Alan of Marion and Granddaughter Ellie Rushing of Cape Girardeau, Missouri Daughter Jane Bruce Hargis and Granddaughter Lizabeth Hargis of Marion Son Ben W. Bruce his wife Jerianne and Grandchildren Madeline Anne Wilson Bruce , John Wilson Bruce and Margaux Julia Bruce of Marion Two Sisters; Louann Sims and husband Carlyle of Marion Lorelei Bujdoso of Marion Preceded by his Parents. Funeral services will be Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Gordon Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Virgil Cuss Wilson Scholarship Fund at Marion High School or Marion Carnegie Library.
