Benjamin Franklin Harget III,65, of Johnston City, Illinois, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 10:30 PM with his family by his side. Bennie was born in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Benjamin Franklin Harget II and Mary Louis (Smith).
Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, Illinois with pastor Don Colson officiating, with burial immediately after at the Herrin City Cemetery in Herrin, Illinois. Family and friends may visit Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:00 until the time of service at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, Illinois
Survivors include sister, Myra (Raymond) Wagley of Johnston City, IL; Faye (Jim) Kimmel of Murphysboro, IL; Leah (Jim) Covey Marion, IL; Mary (Floyd) Smith Herrin, IL; and Phyllis (Tom) Antonini Evansville, IN. Two nephews Richard Smith, St. Louis, MO; Jimmy Kimmel (Dana) Murphypboro, IL; Crystal Marlow of Duquoin, IL; Barbara (Scott) Wright of Johnston City, IL; and Lisa (Brett) Basler of Johnston City, IL. Three great nieces Gracie and Courtney Kimmel of Murphysboro; and Lillie Covey of Waco, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Uncle Bennie was a country music collector and traveled to many concerts with his niece, Lisa. He had a love for George Jones, Loretta Lynn and Marty Stuart. He loved his dogs George, Lucy and Bubbles. He loved his sister, Myra's dogs, Arsenio and Sandy, his niece, Lisa's dog, Max and Barbara's dog, Jackie.
A special thank you to Jon Mcanelly for making his days brighter with country music and granting a dream; Linda Duncan, volunteer at Hospice of Southern Illinois and the special nurses and bath attendants, you're all angels; Lisa Basler, a special niece who shared many talks and held his hand through each appointment with doctors. His niece, Barbara Kay was also present often to offer her love and support and caring heart.
In lieu of flowers Bennie requested donations be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
