Benny L. Devore

Marion- BENNY L. DEVORE, age 65, of Marion, passed away at 1:50pm on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Herrin Hospital. Benny was born in Taylorville on May 23, 1947, the son of Delmar E. and Rosemary (Jones) Devore. He married Virginia J. Jolene McKinney in rural Mount Vernon on August 31, 1996. She survives in Marion. Mr. Devore was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot. Benny dearly loved his children and was crazy about his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. Survivors include his wife- Jolene Devore of Marion Two daughters- Venise and Dean McWard of Taylorville, IL Leslie Devore of Stonington, IL Two Step-Children- Thomas and Joanna Price of Hendersonville, TN Patti Price of Decatur, IL Six grandchildren- Jacob McWard, Shandi Galiher, Brianna Price, Jessea Hader, and Cody Hagler, and Mason Hagler Five Great Grandchildren Sister- JoEllen Jody and Marvin Mathis of Pawnee, IL Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents. As per his wishes, his body will be cremated. The family will hold private memorial services to celebrate his life at a later date with Rev. Thomas Price and Rev. Bob Keef officiating. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with memorial arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to the Boy Scouts of Taylorville- Troop 68 or the Richland Community College Foundation of Decatur.
