Marion Bertie Fay Mitchell, 85 died Monday, May 17, 2004 at 2:20 P.M. in her residence. Bertie was born December 01, 1918 to Thomas and Ida (Baker) Lauderdale in Pope County. She married Orval Edgar Mitchell in Carrier Mills and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1993. Bertie was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to garden. Survivors include: Daughter-in-law Margaret Mitchell of Marion, Grandchildren: Debbie Mitchell of Marion, Steve Mitchell of Marion, Lisa A. & Kevin Violett of Marion, Jennifer R. Voyles of Marion, Great Grandchildren: Jerod Violett, Megan Mitchell, Jacob Voyles. Preceded by: Husband, Son Richard Mitchell, Grandson Timothy A. Mitchell, Brother Leo Lauderdale and Sister Allie Mae Brush. Funeral services will be Friday, May 21, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Elias officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
