Betty Cutrell

Herrin- Betty J. Cutrell, 82, of Herrin, passed away at 8:47 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2014 at her home. Betty was born on May 8, 1931 in Herrin to James Charles and Susie (Stacey) Triplett. She married Charles P. Cutrell and he preceded her in death. She spent the next 30 years with her loving companion, Pressley Leroy Deckard, until he preceded her in death on March 26, 2000. Betty was a loving and caring person who was a protective homemaker and babysat for friends and neighbors. She was a loyal, smart and direct person, who let you know her thoughts and opinions on subjects. She was a God fearing, Bible reading lady who attended West Monroe Street Apostolic Church in Herrin. She enjoyed listening to country music, watching the Dallas Cowboys and playing along with her family in their sports polls. Survivors include- Daughter- Carolyn Valco of Herrin Daughter- Barbara Thompson and husband Larry of Herrin Son- Stacy Cutrell and wife Michelle of Herrin 12 grandchildren: Rhonda Bowden and husband Keith of Portsmouth, VA Billy Valco of Herrin Glen Valco and wife Michelle of Herrin Joey Valco of Herrin Scott Thompson and wife Erin of Marion Eric Thompson and girlfriend Hayley of Herrin Ryan Thompson and girlfriend Natalie of Herrin Alex Estes of Herrin Joseph Lee Scott Harkrider of Herrin Samuel Caldwell of Herrin Dillon Caldwell of Herrin Kaitlyn Harkrider of Herrin 21 Great Grandchildren 9 Great Great Grandchildren Sister- Lillie Foster and husband Charles of Murphysboro Sister- Joyce Smith of West Frankfort Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, longtime companion- Pressley, grandchild- Marty Valco, great grandchild- Dustin Owens and nine brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Terry Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home.
