Betty June Barnett

Marion- Betty June Barnett, age 90, of Marion, passed away at 11:05pm on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Betty was born in Marion on November 1, 1922, the daughter of Hosea and Bessie (Holder) Robinson. She married Verbal Barnett in Marion on June 23, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2007.  Mrs. Barnett was a member of the Warder Street Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years.  Betty was a homemaker.  In her free time, she enjoyed researching geneology  Survivors include her daughter- Mary Mausey of Marion; Two sons- Bill and Jerrie Barnett of Herrin;  David and Patricia Barnett of Marion; Eight Grandchildren- Aimee and Jai Owens;  Jamie Chrostoski;  Jodi and Paul Hawkins; Jennifer and Kevin Pierce; Crystal and Jeff Smith;  Eric and Carla Barnett;  David and Heather Barnett;  Layne and Garrett Flannigan; Fourteen Great Grandchildren; Two Great Great Grandchildren; Sister- Pauline Fanhrich of Chicago.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers- Earl, Virgil and Hosea Robinson, Jr., three sisters- Stella Connell, Mary Harper, and Bessie Mae Brewer, and two infant siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kevin McNeely officiating.   Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.  For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion.
