Betty June Chamness

Betty June Chamness, 87, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 1:25 pm at Parkway Manor. Betty was born January 28, 1930 in West Frankfort the daughter of Lewis “Earl” and Lois Mae (Slayden) McClellan. She married Ben Chamness in Marion on July 10, 1954 and together they shared over 61 years of marriage until his death on May 8, 2016. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion. Betty was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Survivors include her; Son – Jack Chamness of Marion Son – Earl Chamness and wife Brenda of Marion Granddaughters; Diana Hoover and husband Toby of Marion Debra Perkins and husband Kevin of Thompsonville Great grandchildren; Krista Tacderas and husband Sean of Marion Brittani Snyder and husband Justin of Marion Amber Ortega and husband Kyle of West Frankfort Corey, Alex and Jesse Perkins of Thompsonville Great Great Grandchildren; Emma Coffey, Jaxon Terry of West Frankfort, and another one due in June, 2018 Brother – in law - Sam Chamness and wife Ann of Marion Several Nieces & nephews Preceeded by his Parents, Husband – Ben Chamness and Brother – Jim McClellan. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Mohr officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 pm at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
