Betty June Meadows

Herrin- Betty June Meadows, 87, of Herrin, passed away at 9:30 PM, Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Parkway Manor in Marion. Betty was born on September 10, 1924 in Plumfield, IL to Hiram & Clara (Rich) Sanders. She married Homer Meadows on May 13, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1992. Betty was a hardworking and dedicated woman who spent thirty five years as an LPN at Herrin Hospital before moving on and working another nineteen years as The Shoe Lady of Herrin Wal-Mart before retiring in May of 2011. Work and family were her life and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include- Daughter- Patricia Magnotti of Phoenix, AZ Daughter- Evelyn Keel and husband Larry of Herrin Son- Bruce Meadows and wife Sandra of St. Louis, MO Four Grandchildren: Teri Magnotti of Pasadena, CA Wendi Hatfield and husband Dan of Omaha, NE Troy Keel and wife Kathy of Herrin Chad Keel and wife Jeanette of Herrin Seven Great Grandchildren- Clayton, Jeremiah, Wade, Whitney, Karley, Chad & Megan Sister- Reba Bennett of West Frankfort Sister- Dorothy Robinson of Tucson, AZ Sisters in law- Jeanette, Betty Ann and Edna of Herrin Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law- Doug Magnotti and nine brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Friday, September 23, 2011 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
