Bill McCratic

Marion- William Bill McCratic, 62, of Marion, formerly of Chicago, passed away at 3:14 am, Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Bill was born on July 10, 1946 in Chicago to Edward & Jacqueline (Schon) McCratic. He married Gail (Padderud) Drewes on December 17, 1993 in Arlington Heights, IL. Mr. McCratic was a Vietnam Navy Veteran who served on the USS Bryce Canyon. Once honorably discharged from the Navy, he began a 30 year career with the Arlington Heights Police Department as a patrolman. He retired and moved to southern Illinois, where he began working as an armed security guard for General Dynamics. He was a member of the Marion VFW, American Legion and Eagles Club. He enjoyed spending time with friends. Survivors include- Wife- Gail McCratic of Marion Mother- Jacqueline McCratic of Peoria, AZ Godmother & Aunt- Lorraine Blakely & husband Robert of Georgetown, TX Son & daughter in law- Michael & Christine McCratic of Cary, IL Son- Kevin McCratic of McHenry, IL Daughter & son in law- Katherine & Matthew Hanus of Cary, IL Son- David Drewes of Winnipeg, Ont., Canada Son- Timothy Drewes of Irvine, CA Three Grandchildren Brother & sister in law- Jack & Debbie McCratic of Powder Springs, GA Sister & brother in law- Sally Jo & Donald Walker of Peoria, AZ Sister & brother in law- Darlene & Alexander Porteus of Evanston,IL Sister & brother in law- Pamela & David Vanheuklom of Wisconsin Brother & sister in law- Timothy & Lisa McCratic of Georgia Sister- Melody McCratic Brother- Scott McCratic of Texas Many Nieces, nephews and cousins Dear friends- Larry & Pamela Largent of Marion He was preceded in death by his father. A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday, July 24, 2008. Military rites will be provided by the Marion VFW, American Legion Post, and National Guard Unit. Graveside services are being provided by Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations are suggested to the VFW Ritual Team and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N.
