Bill "Moe" Moffe

Herrin- Bill Moe Moffe, 86, of Herrin, passed away at 1:35 AM, Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Bill was born on December 13, 1921 in Herrin to Dominick & Mary (Magherio) Moffe. He married Minnie Enrico on October 5, 1948 in Herrin. This December they would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary. Mr. Moffe was retired after having worked many years as the body man at Karr Motors in Herrin. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He also was a member of the Herrin Knights of Columbus and the Pigeon Inn. Survivors include- Wife- Minnie Moffe of Herrin Nephew- Eugene Piantanida of Herrin Uncle & Aunt- Tony & Dorothy Magherio of Mississippi Cousin- Evelyn Calcaterra & husband Joe of Herrin Cousin- Tony Magherio of St. Louis, MO He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law & sister in law- Markie & Katie Piantanida. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to San Carlo Cemetery or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St./ Herrin, IL 62948.
