Billie Marie Hestand

Herrin- BILLIE MARIE (VAUGHN) HESTAND, mother of Dorothy (Vaughn) Lukens, passed away at 9:50am on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort, at the age of 100. Billie was born on May 5, 1908 in Adamsville, AL to Lincoln & Drucilla (Nichols) Cooper. She married Adolf Vaughn in 1923 in Herrin. He preceded her in death 1941. Next she married John Hestand and he also preceded her in death. She was a longtime member of Herrin First Christian Church and the Herrin Senior Citizens. Survivors include- Daughter & son in law- Dorothy & Al Lukens of West Frankfort Grandchildren: Sally Barber of Austin, TX Allen Lukens of Atlanta, GA Kevin Vaughn of Herrin Lana Kendall of St. Stephens, SC Lynell Hence of Grapevine, TX Thirteen Great Grandchildren One Great Great Grandchild She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son- Paul Vaughn, two sisters & one brother. Graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy, with Rev. Ron Henwood officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
