Bob Hardcastle, 84, of the Lake of Egypt, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 12:25 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014.
Bobby was born February 26, 1930 in Herrin the son of Ben and Nan (Nash) Hardcastle. He married Barbara Jo Fox-Grindle on April 28, 1968 and together they have shared over 46 years of marriage.
Bob was an Army veteran, proudly answering the call to service his country during the Korean War. He formerly owned the ice plant in Herrin, worked at TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority), Odum Concrete, Herrin Security Bank, together with Barbara they owned Hardcastle’s Aquarium and he retired from the Post Office in Herrin. Following his retirement Bob worked with the Lake of Egypt Boat Patrol. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Herrin V.F.W. and when younger was very active in the Herrin JC’s and he formerly served as the Herrin City Treasurer.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 am – 11 am on Monday at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in San Carlo Cemetery.
