Herrin- Bob Rossin, 78, of Herrin, passed from this life into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home. Bob was born July 1, 1933 in Carterville to Charles and Dolly (Baggett) Rossin. He graduated from Herrin High School in May of 1951. He married Virginia Upchurch, who was the love of his life and best friend, on September 8, 1951 in Herrin. To this union were born two sons, Gary and Bobby Rossin. Bob retired from Kas Potato Chips in 1992. He also worked for Sangamon Electric and the 7UP Bottling Company. Bob was saved at the Radio Tabernacle on April 21, 1973. There he worked with the youth ministry and drove the church bus. He and the Bus Ministry workers took the church youth group to many Pentecostal churches in Missouri, Kentucky and Mississippi. He loved working with young people and never met a stranger. He always said, A stranger is only a friend you have not yet met. He also served as a deacon at the freewill Baptist church. He served as chaplain at Herrin Hospital and Heartland Regional Medical Center. He was an active member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy, where he served as substitute Sunday school teacher. Survivors include- Loving wife- Virginia Rossin of Herrin Son- Gary Rossin and wife Carol of Johnston City Son- Bobby Rossin and wife Ronna of West Frankfort Eight Grandchildren: Matthew Rossin and wife Eve of Freeman Spur Michelle Pendleton and husband Erik of San Diego, CA Melanie Rossin of Carterville Mark Barwick of Johnston City Heather King and husband Dave of Herrin Shawn Rossin of Herrin Michael and Jennifer Findley of Freeman Spur Danney Findley and wife Stacy of Pittsburg Eleven great grandchildren including his little buddy Toby Rossin who lived with Bob and Virginia Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter- Josie King, brother- Charles Rossin and three sisters- Geraldine Vaughn, Martha Winget and Rosalie Sadler. Bobs wishes were to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy. Pastor Jerry Schell will officiate. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville awaiting the promised resurrection of Gods faithful children. A time of gathering will be from 1:00 PM until time of service, Sunday at Lone Oak Baptist Church. Memorial arrangements were entrusted to Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to Lone Oak Baptist Church and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
