Bobby Ray Simmons

Bobby Ray Simmons, 77, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 1:12 P.M. at his home. Bobby was born December 8, 1931 the son of Ray & Modena (Craig) Simmons in Marion. He married Virginia M. Ray on December 19, 1953 in Marion and together they shared almost 51 years of marriage until her death on December 7, 2004. He was a member of Second Baptist Church of Marion. He retired from Caterpillar; Bobby was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the Air Force. Survivors include: Three Daughters; Carla Bateson and husband Robert of Creal Springs Rhonda & Joy Stroud of Charleston, SC Stephanie Korilko of Coal City, IL Eight Grandchildren; Cheryl & Ray Attwood of Coal City, IL Jennifer & Tom Martens of Cambridge, MN Kevin & Melissa Boggs of Joliet, IL Jason Stroud of Charleston, SC Evan Tilson-Stroud of Charleston, SC Ashley Fitzgerald of Charleston, SC Elizabeth Korilko & Jeremy Fourez of Sidell, IL Kristi Korilko of Coal City, IL Six Great Grandchildren; Jake, Jenna, Kaitlyn, Trevor, Isabelle, Matthew Fianc Shirley Odum of Marion Preceded by Parents, Wife Virginia, Daughter Cheryl Simmons Funeral services will be Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
