Bonnie June Johns, 92, of the Lake of Egypt, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023 at her home.
Bonnie was born June 28, 1930 the daughter of Roy and Hettie (Beasley) Tanner. She married Paul Newell on December 31, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1954. She married Robert Earl Johns in Corinth on April 18, 1959 and they shared over 54 years of marriage until his passing on December 7, 2013.
Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and granny. She loved flower and vegetable gardening and hosting family gatherings. She was a member of Creal Springs United Methodist Church.
Bonnie was happiest at home on the farm she shared with Robert Earl, watching the cattle, baling hay and working in the garden, building a lifetime of memories that are now treasured by her family.
Survivors include her Daughter, Neica (Chuck) Allred, grandchildren; Taylor (Stevie) Allred and Micaela Allred and great grandchildren; Kolt and Kreid; Son, Chris (Sherry) Johns, grandchildren; Andrew (Courtney) Johns, Collin Johns, and Kenadee (Loren Worthen) Johns, great grandchildren; Bentley, Caisey and Lilah. Son, Bryan (Shawn) Johns, grandchildren; Ryan (MiKensey) Johns, Cody Johns and their families; Daughter-in-law, Patty Newell, grandchildren; Sean Newell and Amie (Jason) Wece; great grandchildren; Coty & Nathan Wece and Caleb, Hope, Hallie and William Newell and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, first husband Paul Newell and husband Robert Earl Johns, her son Lyle Dean Newell, sisters Dorothy McAlpin, Anna Bryan and brother Virgil Tanner.
The family would like to thank Becky Johns, who was Bonnie's caregiver, for the love and care she provided during her last months, and the nurses of Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11 am at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 am until the time of service.
For those who prefer memorials may be made to County Line Cemetery. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
