Brenda Marlow Witters was born on October 24, 1942 in Herrin, IL to Edith and Caesar Marlow. She graduated from high school in 1960, received a BSEd in 1964 from Southern Illinois University, and a master's in Education from the University of Colorado at Denver. Two years were spent teaching in Carpentersville, IL, moved to Golden, CO in 1966, where she taught 32 years in Jefferson County.
Her outdoor loves were hiking, camping, biking, travel and mountain climbing-she climbed 34 of Colorado's 14ers.
Other loves-her husband Bob, Roy Rogers, and Elvis. Music gave her much pleasure. She and Bob were avid square dancers for many years.
Her quilting skills gave joy to many. For several years she was a docent at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden. She was a volunteer at the Jefferson County Action Center, and also was active in the Golden Landmarks Association.
She will be missed greatly by family husband Bob; brother Chip and his wife Kathy and their son Jason of Montrose, CO; her stepmother, Shirley Anderson in Illinois; and many, many friends.
A brief Memorial Service will be held at the Olinger Woods Chapel, 1100 Washington Avenue, Golden, CO beginning at 1:30pm, March 30, 2012.
Immediately following the Memorial Service, a Celebration of Brenda's Life gathering, will be held across the street at the Golden Hotel.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made in Brenda's name to the Wild Animal Sanctuary, 1946 Weld County Road (WCR) 53, Denver, CO 80643, Region: Denver Area.
