Marion Bruce Alan Tyner, 63, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 11:28 P.M. at his home in Marion following an eight-month battle with leiomyosarcoma.
Bruce was born August 24, 1946 in Carbondale the son of Carl N. Tyner and Mary Lou Bethel Tyner Roberts. When Bruce was two, his father was killed in a mining accident. His mother later married James Addison Roberts who raised Bruce to be the fine man he is today. Bruce married Carol Storme on September 1, 1967 in Marion, and on Tuesday they would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.
Bruce has been a plumber since 1970, and in 1988 he opened Tyner Plumbing and Heating. He was an Elder and member of the First Christian Church. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #551, Elks Club #800, National Street Rod Association and the Packard Club. He was an avid SIU Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed fishing, golf and restoring antique cars.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Bill Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening after 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
For those who prefer, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Bruce Tyner LMS Research Fund. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, Illinois 62959.
