Bruce Jeffrey Shaffer

Bruce Jeffrey Shaffer, age 79, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Shawnee Senior Living in Herrin, Illinois.

Bruce was born October 21, 1943 in Washington, DC, a son of Robert A. and Jane M. (Mahler) Shaffer. He married Frederica J. (Farris) Nanni on April 24, 1993 in Jacksonville, FL. Bruce grew up in Alexandria, VA and graduated Georgetown High School. He attended University of Florida in Gainsville, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in History and Sociology. Bruce had many sales jobs in his life, most recent was with Bell South in Jacksonville, FL.

He is survived by his wife Frederica J. Nanni of Marion, IL; two step children, Samantha (Dan) Dwyer of Bristol, CT and Bernard R. (Joy) Nanni of Baltic, CT; step grandchildren, Braydan Dwyer, Ethan Dwyer, Bernard C. Nanni, Trisha Nanni, Dade Nanni, niece Nicole Shaffer, and nephew Aaron Shaffer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. and Jane M. Shaffer and one brother, Robert Shaffer.

Per Bruce's wishes, his body is being donated to the University of Tennessee, Forensic Anthropology Center. Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
