Herrin- CHARLES MELVIN BUCK RUSSELL, age 87, of Herrin, passed away at 5:45pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the home of his niece and her husband, Kathy and Gerald Hagler, in DuQuoin, IL.
Charles was born in Herrin on December 8, 1919. One of thirteen children, he was born the son of Edward and Mabel (Rogers) Russell.
Buck was a member of the Second Baptist Church in DuQuoin. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Buck is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus.

Buck was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters- Mary Katherine Russell, Beverly Shumaker, and Dorothy Laurell; four brothers- Clifford Earl Russell, Basil Russell, Jerry Russell, and E.C. Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Kent Eaton of the DuQuoin Second Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Tom Hamilton, Russell Brown, Ed Russell, Brian Russell, Kent Russell, Dillon Lee, Russ Martie, and Roy Deal will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Family members are invited to meet at the funeral home at 5:30pm on Friday, for a time of private family visitation.
Buck will be missed by all who loved him and knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Southern Illinois, the staff from Our Directions, the staff at Brookwood of Energy and the staff at Helia Healthcare of Energy, where Buck lived.
