Herrin- CARL B. RED WALKER, age 81, of Herrin, passed away at 9:50pm on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Bethesda Meadow Nursing Center in Ellisville, MO. Carl was born in Lansing, MI on June 3, 1929, the son of Carl Bert and Flossie (Marshall) Walker. He married Marilyn Bione in Herrin on September 13, 1952. Together they have shared fifty-eight years of marriage. She survives in Herrin. Mr. Walker was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He retired from General Electric where he worked as a tool designer. Carl was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Herrin Knights of Columbus and the Herrin Senior Citizens. Carl enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors with his grandson. Survivors include his wife- Marilyn Walker of Herrin, IL 2 sons- Scot and Leigh Walker of Wildwood, MO Mike Walker of Ellisville, MO One Grandson- Alex Walker of Wildwood, MO Sister-in-Law- Jane Walker of Herrin, IL Two Nephews- Greg Walker of Minneapolis, MN Mark Garavaglia of Anna, IL Niece- Pam and Mike Eads of Indianapolis, IN Two great nieces- Amanda and Chris Becker of Indianapolis, IN Gina Walker of Minneapolis, MN Great Great Niece- Makayla Walker of Minneapolis, MN He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Russell Walker, sister- Pat Garavaglia, and brother-in-law- Bill Garavaglia. A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 9-11am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
