Thompsonville Carl R. Butch Deaton, 62, formerly of Marion, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at 9:17 A.M. at Herrin Hospital.
Carl was born March 20, 1944 to Carl Edward Deaton and Wanda L. (Reed) Neeley in Newburg, Indiana. He married Mary Samples in 1965 and then later married Gwenda Fletcher in 1980 and she preceded him in death on October 27, 2005.
Carl was a retired Facility Technician for GTE North, where he began his career with GTE as a tree trimmer. He was of the Baptist Faith. Carl was a member of the VFW, American Legion and IBEW #702. He was an Army Veteran, proudly answering the call to serve his nation during the Vietnam Era from 1968 1970.

Preceded by Parents, Wife, Daughter - Carla Jean Deaton, Sister - Barbara Clark and Nephew - Darrell Gower.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Brother Lloyd Whittaker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military rites performed by Marions VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will be Saturday from Noon until the time of service at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
