Carl Dean Brown

Herrin- Carl Dean Brown, 79, of Herrin formerly of Oakland, CA, died at 11:40 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Herrin Hospital. Mr. Brown was born on December 23, 1921 in Herrin to Homer & Ximena (Kenner) Brown. He married Catherine "Susan" (Sperry) Brown on May 19, 1958 in Reno, NV. She survives of Herrin. Carl retired as a baker at Sunshine Biscuit Co. of Oakland before moving back to Southern Illinois. He was of Baptist faith. He enjoyed writing short stories and songs and researching his family history. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking and animals. Survivors: Wife- Catherine "Susan" Brown- Herrin Daughter- Jennifer Susan Maggi- Marion Grandson- Brandon Dean Maggi- Marion Sister & brother in law- Donna & Ronald Beltz- Energy Aunt- Electa Anderson Uncle & Aunt- Jay W. & Beulah Kenner His parents and three sisters preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 27, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Al Williams of Community of Faith Church will officiate.
