Herrin- CARL HARVEL, age 72, of Herrin, passed away at 8:50pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at his home in Herrin.
Carl was born in Cambria, IL, the son of Elmer and Edna (Williams) Harvel. He married Doris Beasley in Herrin on April 29, 1955. They have shared fifty-two years of marriage. Doris survives in Herrin.
Carl attended White Ash Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He worked at Maytag in Herrin for twenty-four years and Consol Coal Company in Sesser for nineteen years.
Survivors include his loving wife- Doris (Beasley) Harvel of Herrin.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law- Fred Beasley, three brothers- Dale, Bill, and Joe Harvel, and one sister- Virginia Waldron.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 25, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Brother Jim Cockburn officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-1pm on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the funeral home.
