Marion- Carmeline "Carmie" Antoinette Hill, age 89, of Marion, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at Sunshine Gardens in Marion.
Carmeline was born in Johnston City on May 18, 1931, the daughter of Santo “Sam” Lo Bue and raised by her loving mother and beloved step-father- Aleene (Racine) and Mario J. Carnaghi. She married Floyd Lee Hill. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1981.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Prior to her retirement, Carmie had owned Tom’s BBQ in Marion.
Survivors include her daughter- Jan Beth and Michael Miller of New Orleans, Louisiana
Daughter- Jennifer Hill of Marion
Son- John Michael and Lynn Hill of Marion
Grandson- John Michael Hill II of Marion
Granddaughter- Ali Marie and Dylan Pirnat of Bedford, Indiana
Sister- Marlene and David Thompson of Marion
Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins from various areas including Chicago, New York, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Rio Nero, Italy to name a few
She was preceded in death by her father- Santo “Sam” Lo Bue, mother- Aleene (Racine) Carnaghi, step-father- Mario J. Carnaghi, and sister- Angeline Monaco.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion with Father Brian Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. A time of visitation will be held from 09:30 - 11am on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, CASA, or the Lighthouse Shelter. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the service or by mailing to Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N Market Street; Marion, IL 62959.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing and the wearing of masks will be required. Due to church regulations, the visitation will be limited to ten guests at a time. The funeral service will be limited to fifty guests in attendance. The family sincerely hopes for no one to feel obliged to attend services during these unprecedented times.
