Carolene Mallow

Herrin- Carolene Mallow, 70, of Herrin, passed away at 2:40 PM, Friday, January 11, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Carolene was born on July 4, 1937 in Detroit, MI to Raymond & Mable (Penrod) Robinson. She worked many years as an office manager and bookkeeper for the Egyptian Area Programs on Aging. Mrs. Mallow was a former member and pianist at the Energy United Methodist Church. She later attended and joined Union Gospel Mission in Herrin. In her spare time, Carolene enjoyed playing the piano (she also gave piano lessons), listening to music and craftwork such as needle point and painting. Survivors include- Son & daughter in law- Dusty & Ruby Mallow of Herrin Daughter and son in law- Dana & Ali Zahraee of Naperville Step mother- Gurlean Robinson of Potosi, MO Five Grandchildren- Traci, David & Austin Mallow of Herrin Kevin & Justin Zahraee of Naperville Step brother- Terry Lawson of Potosi, MO Step Brother- Lloyd Lawson of Potosi, MO Step Brother- Floyd Lawson of Potosi, MO Step Brother- Eugene Lawson of Potosi, MO Six nieces & nephews: Byron Robinson of Texas Barry Robinson of Texas Bruce Robinson of Texas Becky Robinson of Texas Betsy Robinson of Texas Brent Robinson of Texas She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother- Charles Robinson. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Robert Jilek will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Potosi, MO. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, January 14, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
